The most recent discussions about Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama have included comparisons of him to Paris Hilton and whether or not people would like to carpool with him. Continuing the celebrity buzz, Donatella Versace dedicated her Spring-Summer 2009 collection to Obama. None of these topics seem very relevant when choosing the next leader of the most powerful nation in the world. Personally, I think the global war on terrorism and gas prices are more important than lavender shirts and pink sashes. I visited the Versace store in New York City this weekend and I think fashion should stay on 5th Avenue, not Capitol Hill. Past presidents have inspired a dedication to patriotism, liberty, and freedom. If Obama is president, we may have to be content with merely being inspired to have our belt match our shoes.

Sixty-three percent...that is the amount of oil Mother Nature puts in the water "from natural vents." As the debate over off-shore drilling continues, it is helpful to see the facts. Apparently Mother Nature...not SUV-driving Americans or off-shore drilling...is responsible for the majority of pollution.

I never thought I would hear the words that kissing Scarlett Johansson was " nothing." My surprise subsided when I realized the bland reaction was from Penelope Cruz. Apparently Penelope kisses Scarlett and on-screen lover Javier Bardem in Woody Allen's upcoming film "Vicky Cristina Barcelona." Penelope went on to reiterate that Scarlett's famous lips provided a kiss that "wasn't anything special." But if you don't think it is normal to watch two beautiful women kissing on-screen, Scarlett protests that " it’s just because people are so conservative." I don't think a culture that has Victoria's Secret Fashion shows and "The Girls Next Door" on TV can be called too conservative.
And can someone send the memo to Katy Perry that "She kissed a girl..." but didn't like it?

Do you remember in late 2004 when John "F." Kerry just started promising everything to everyone, and flat out making stuff up? Sorta like he did in Vietnam about "Jen-jis" Kahn? He never seemed to catch on to the fact that groups out there were fact checking the details of his exploits - particularly his more grandiose claims. Given that - one has to wonder if Obama has swallowed some vitamin "F." As Jake Tapper is reporting today for ABC, Factcheck.org has fisked Obama's new "McCain had Big Oil give him 2 million dollars" ad, and found - surprise, surprise - its full of make believe. I was asked about this new ad yesterday on Ed Morrissey's show. Something we all need to keep in mind is that as Obama is promising a "windfall tax" on "Oil Companies," you need to know in advance that he will not accomplish it. Because you can't tax a company... A corporation provides a good or service. They charge their customers - in this case the American people (at least those of which who drive) a certain price based upon the cost of what it takes to provide that good or service. This includes all "taxes" from the federal, state, and local governments said corporation is subject to. The truth is they NEVER pay a tax. You and I do. Taxes "on" corporations are merely a line item in their budget that increases the cost to the consumer and always is passed on to the consumer. SO... If Senator Obama promises a "windfall tax" on "big oil" - what you need to hear in your mind is that he is PROMISING to raise the cost of a gallon of gasoline from say $4 to something like $6, or $10, or $15. And we shouldn't have to pay more for our own energy - simply because Obama is an economics flunky... and not even a very sophisticated one at that! Though I can take some comfort that Obama has at least - NOT "won" three purple hearts...

The Alaskan governor is fighting back against the unprecedented decision to give polar bears rights under the Endangered Species Act. The state of Alaska, spearheaded by Gov. Sarah Palin, is suing Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne "seeking to reverse his decision" which gives polar bears protected status based not on current data but on a speculative "foreseeable future" in which the effects of global warming could eke away at the ice in the bears' habitat. That's like me asking my doctor if I can have amoxicillin because I "foresee" that I may get pneumonia.
These scientific decisions should not be based on "foreseeable futures" and "arbitrary" timelines, especially when these sweeping measures could "cripple offshore oil and gas development." Save the polar bears, but let's listen to the native Alaskans and use scientific methods to figure out how to do it.

Here's part of what we're hitting on Saturday night - so be by the radio (9 EST): 1. Celebrity is all the rage this week... Obama, Britney, and Paris. Will Smith, Johnny Depp, and Eddie Murphy topped out the top paid list for Hollywood in 2007-08, are they paid too much ($80, $72, and $55 million respectively.) ALSO: Many of these Hollywood types strongly insist that you and I should give larger and larger percentages of our income to their causes, but do they? Should it matter? Or is it only right that they give to what they tell us to give to? CALL THE SHOW LIVE: 800.345.9622. 2. Lance Armstrong dumped Kate Hudson this week for being too "needy." He also was quoted as saying what he liked about Sheryl Crow before her was Crow's independence. But do guys get "co-dependency" confused these days for what just used to be called old-fashioned love? And what's the difference? Girls - what do you think? CALL THE SHOW: 800.345.9622. 3. Musical features: Skillet, Britt Nicole, Chasen, Sara Barielles, Krystal Meyers, and much more...! 4. We'll also reveal the first opportunity you will have to come see Stephen and Kevin together in person in September, pick both of their new books, and enjoy a GREAT evening in the process... DO NOT MISS THIS! We'd like to thank our sponsors for making it all happen: Christian Values Network, Compassion International, GLYBooks.com, and Hit Me Energy Shots. Listen online: BMXRadio 970 AM in New YorkBlogTalkRadioStations carrying the show: New York City - AM 970 Washington DC - AM 580 Salt Lake UT – AM 820 Jacksonville FL – FM 91.9 Charlotte NC – AM 960 Richmond VA - AM 580 Newark NJ - AM 970 Virginia Beach VA – AM 1010 Trenton NJ - AM 970 Greensboro NC - AM 830 Hartford CT - AM 970 Winston-Salem NC - AM 830 Cape Cod Mass - AM 970 High Point NC – AM 830 Roanoke VA – AM 910 Hackensack NJ - AM 970 St Augustine FL – FM 103.7 Danbury CT - AM 970 Statesville NC – AM1400 Mocksville NC – AM 1520 Bridgeport CT - AM 970 If you would like to have a station near you carry the broadcast please have that station contact - Bryan Brown - bbrown@wtru.com or call 336/480-2038.

"I didn't spew?"You know how people always say the imagination fills in the gaps where suggestiveness leaves off? Believing this is true - one would have to assume this is one of the most pornographic sites on the internet... and it's designed for kids... all pastel and fun to show them how to "take care down there..." I'm not often shocked anymore by what is out there today, but this site has to be one of the most patently offensive internet creations ever made. And YOU paid for it... YOUR taxes... against YOUR wishes... (or at the very least mine...)

"I am not a crook." As if the GOP needed any help in the rocking scandal department in the last election cycle... The sad thing is - it is stories like this that cause decent men to keep from running for office, and decent men who are already there get stung with the same broad assumptions. Surely - especially if Tom Coburn isn't even allowed to deliver babies pro-bono, then surely Ted Stevens knew from his 40 years in office that getting an America's Extreme Home Makeover on his home for nada - qualified as fishy... Many readers think I'm inconsistent in my criticism of wrong doing on the "conservative" side of the aisle... Well to you who think that way hear me when I say, "throw the book at him!"
